One of my “side projects” for this trip was to sell a gold bangle I purchased several years ago.  As luck would have it, gold prices have increased nearly 50% since I bought the bangle (from 1659 Rs per gram to 2685 Rs per gram).  I mentioned this in a conversation and – voila! – we had a field trip lined up.  My guys will let me go shopping all by myself now…  but they still won’t let me engage in a substantial business transaction (and buying/selling gold is exactly that).

One of my former Support managers has an old chum from high school who happens to own one of the nicer jewelry stores in the Commercial Street area.  A couple of texts later, three of us were piled into a car and headed for some gold trading!  I unloaded my beat up old bangle and got a couple more pieces (and still left with cash).  I love this town!

Joji was kind enough to share his high school friend’s goodwill.  The store is four floors of 22kt wonderful…  That’s what I love about this place — these people really know how to do some BLING!

And my bodyguard posse (from the looks of me, I needed protection — that 4am flight arrival was just starting to hit when we took this snap).  My guys will only let me go so far with my independent streak — but they’re smart enough to let me thinnnnnk I’m doing this all on my own.
