Volume VI-Mai-XXMM

After yesterday’s note, a former colleague and now lifelong friend sent me a link to the image below. I didn’t ask her, but I thought it would be appropriate to share. [She’s a little busy with a brand new granddaughter less than four days old who wears a strong Swahili name that means “lionheart” with a smile that would stop a herd of running water buffalo… Tooooo cute! But I digress…]

The image below has some history; you may have seen it before. It was authored by three men who sat together on the steps of Union Square (New York, the other coast) to write down how they defined success. Their goal was to create something they could reflect back on if they ever felt stuck or found themselves living according to someone else’s definition of happiness. They did well – and this work came to be known as the “Holstee Manifesto” and spun up an entire movement, including lifestyle videos on YouTube and an array of print and online media, and an online community of over 60,000 dedicated to the principles in the poster.

While many of us would never “just quit” if we didn’t like our job (after all, there are rough days in even the best of jobs)… There’s a lot to be said for every single phrase in this word buffet. This is your life. Do what you love, and do it often. Live your dream and share your passion. (Thanks, Sara.)
