Saturday – July 17, 4am

Yep – I went back. Back to Tsukiji Fish Market, aka the Central Tokyo Wholesale Fish Market… the largest in the world. This is where they have the famous Tuna Auctions and barter over a carcass the size of a small cow. I arrived at 4:35am and the area was already a buzzzzzz of activity. I had tuna for breakfast (of courrrrrrrrrrrrrse – what else would you have here?) and it was absolutely fabulous. I bought a couple of ‘me’ souvenirs – an apron and a really nice knife that matches the other I bought at this market a couple of years ago.

I was back to the hotel by 7am – time for a quick nap before I head out to Ginza for an hour or two of browsing (tooooo expensive here to shop!) and then off to Tokyo Station for my Shinkansen ride back to Narita airport and then the long flight home (I should arrive home in the States by about 7pm on Saturday).
