SGN: Some Good News with John Krasinski, Ep2 (YouTube, 17min)

Okay, you have to promise me that no matter what you’ll at least go to 8:25 and watch from there.  I can absolutely fully commit to you that it will be the best few minutes of your day…  (Teaser: if you’re a Hamilton fan… O…M…G…!!)

Last week, I encouraged you to invest some real thought about what your passions are and what inspires you.  Some of you commented that it would be nice to take a test to get recommendations about the kinds of things that motivate you.  Admittedly, companies have done less and less of that kind of work with their employees in recent years.  And the companies that do offer those development opportunities sometimes invest those resources more surgically in specific groups or advanced leadership levels, which might mean you would have missed those programs in the last few years…  If you did, I have an opportunity for you!

I worked with a group back in January to trial a training program on “Leading with Gratitude” and as part of that review took an assessment they call the “Motivators Assessment”.  It’s online and takes about 15 minutes to complete.  The results are pretty high-quality and super easy to wrap your head around (IMHO).  The results identified your strongest MOTIVATORS… as an example, a sampling of mine included Pressure, Impact, Excelling, Empathy, and Excitement (as well as which Motivators were more Moderate or Neutral for you).  The results also suggested specific IDENTITIES (actionable groupings of motivational types) based on your responses.  Let’s have some fun – I’ve listed two of the “Identities” profiles below, guess which one was “Strong” for me and which one wasn’t.  I know this will be difficult for you, but don’t lose too much time on it! 😷

  • The Achievers: Those who thrive on tight deadlines, tackle ambitious goals, and love a good challenge and solving a problem. Often type A personalities. Achievers usually like to be in charge of others, or at least in control of their own destiny.
  • The Caregivers: Those caring souls who are often more tuned in to others’ emotions. They are more motivated when they have regular fun at work, and they believe balancing time at work and time with their families is fundamental.

I know that was really hard… 😊  So for the “The Achievers” profile (awwww shucks, folks…. you knew that one was mine!), the report goes further on to further identify the characteristics of the profile, where those people best thrive, and how to enhance their value and accomplish more (including some constructive recommendations on those things that hold us back that we don’t like to admit we need to work on)…  There were three specific profiles I had Strong results in, so received this super helpful info on all three of those Identities groups.

The report’s value was well worth the 15 minutes of my time to take the quiz online.  So if you’re using some of this “off peak” time sponsored by our friends at Corona, having results from an assessment like this could certainly present interesting input to any plan you’re pulling together for how your future might stack up.  The teams at The Culture Works are offering the Motivators Assessment for free for a limited time (they didn’t say how long).  The results are immediately available for you to download (and who among us doesn’t love immediate gratification)?  Enjoy!

Go be your very best!  💕
